Revenge of the Rattlesnake - June 4, 2006

The 'Revenge of the Rattlesnake' is a Canaan Mountain Series mountain bike points event. It is a grueling 40K (+/-) race run between Davis, Blackwater Falls State Park and the top of Canaan Mountain, taking in some of the 'Loop Road'. Those who compete are typically seasoned riders and know how to negotiate the terrain and pace themselves in order to finish. Those who are not or do not, will drop out somewhere along the way.
 
Consequently, there is little for our rescue personnel to do. The below pictures show us in somewhat of a relaxed mode at one of the water stations. Fact is, we had been out on a car fire until 0430 hours early that morning and were all in need of a nap. We had taken about an hour prior to this photo refreshing on lowering and lifting systems for rope rescue. It wasn't all 'nap time'.
